Karnataka mountaineers Santosh Devarajappa and Dr. Chinmayi J. Trimulamurthy were welcomed with great warmth in Bengaluru after successfully scaling Mount Everest. Ministers and other guests said wealth and material possessions take a backseat to achievements that inspire society. The climbers told of their hard times on the climb. Santosh remembered a tense moment near the summit when he ran out of oxygen and was overcome with emotion. A Sherpa fixed another oxygen tank, and he was rescued. Dr. Chinmayi described the physical hardships of high-altitude climbing but credited their success to teamwork and encouragement. The event celebrated their outstanding achievement and inspirational spirit.
