The Ministry of Education has approved the establishment of the University of Liverpool’s branch campus in Bengaluru, marking another major step in India’s push to internationalise higher education under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The UK-based university is expected to welcome its first batch of undergraduate and postgraduate students in 2026. Initially, the campus will offer programmes in Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences, and Game Design. The move is expected to expand access to globally recognised education within India while strengthening academic and research collaborations between India and the United Kingdom. Officials described the approval as a milestone in making India a global hub for learning, innovation, and research.
