NIMHANS and Ilaiyaraja Strike a New Chord for Brain Health

NIMHANS has partnered with the Mercuri Foundation to launch a national center to study the effect of music on brain health and mental well-being in a unique blend of science and music. Legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja will be the patron of the proposed initiative and will lend his support to take the research further in this emerging field. The center will explore the role of music in promoting emotional wellness, cognitive function, learning, and management of neurological disorders. Researchers hope the project will strengthen evidence-based music therapy and create new ways of thinking about healthcare. “This collaboration is an important step in understanding the healing power of music and how it can improve the lives of individuals of all ages.”
