India’s NEET Challenges Spark Interest in South Korea’s Suneung System

The NEET UG 2026 controversy has once again raised serious concerns about the credibility of India’s entrance exam system. After allegations of paper leaks, many are now looking at South Korea’s highly disciplined Suneung exam model for solutions. In South Korea, exams are treated like a national mission; flights are paused, construction work stops, and strict security arrangements are made to prevent leakage of examination papers. Education experts say India needs to have a strong system with proper planning, very strict security, and greater accountability to avoid repeated “leak and re-exam” cycles. With over 22 lakh students affected by this NEET paper leakage this year, the crisis has highlighted the urgent need to rebuild trust in competitive exams and protect students from uncertainty and stress.
