AI Training Mission to Empower One Million Teachers

India has launched one of the world’s largest AI literacy programs for educators, aiming to train over one million teachers by 2027. The initiative, led by IIT Madras-incubated Bodhan AI, will help teachers use artificial intelligence in lesson planning, assessments, multilingual content creation, and student feedback systems. Government officials said the program will support a future-ready education system and reduce teacher workload. Pilot projects are expected to begin soon, with the first public training cohort launching on Teachers’ Day 2026. Experts believe the initiative could transform classroom teaching and improve learning outcomes across India through responsible and ethical AI adoption.
