AI in Middle Schools: Building Smart Thinkers for Tomorrow

The CBSE has launched Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for middle school students to develop key digital and problem-solving skills at an early stage. This initiative focuses on logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and understanding how technology shapes everyday life, rather than just coding. AI can make learning more engaging and personalised by helping students explore concepts at their own pace. But students should not depend too heavily on these tools. Independent thinking, creativity, and curiosity must remain central to education. Teachers play a key role in guiding students to question, analyse, and use AI responsibly. Balanced use of AI can enhance learning while ensuring students develop strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
