An 111-year-old government primary school at Vandse, Udupi, Karnataka, launched Iris, an AI-powered humanoid robot teacher. Iris is designed to support interactive learning and teaching and encourage AI among students. School trustees and alumni funded this project. This initiative represents a shift toward AI-assisted learning in government schools, aiming to improve the quality of education and digital exposure for students, especially in rural areas. Iris does not replace human teachers, but it helps teachers and students explain difficult topics and makes classes more engaged and interactive.
